Wedding Photography in Richmond and Central VA
Unique, Dynamic, Modern, & Beautiful Wedding Photography.
Our
wedding photography are mainly a
photojournalistic wedding photography style with non tradational
candid portraits. In our
wedding photography our emphasis is on the couple. Our
wedding galleries and
wedding albums aren't chock full of formals nor do they include much of "look at the camera and smile!" No, when we
photograph a
wedding just as an
engagement portrait session we focus on capturing emotion, passion, and
beautiful images or
portraits. Flip through a few of the

Beautiful Union Portraits Richmond VA Wedding Photography
Shooting the moment
When it comes to
wedding photography Beautiful Union Portraits shoots in the moment. Meaning that we react to the emotion and events of the day rather than controlling them or staging them and telling you "say cheese!".
Photojournalism mix
We shoot a mix of
photojournalism and candid portraits. When we are
photographing events such as the
wedding and the reception we shoot with the
photojournalistic wedding style. However, when we are shooting the
portraits for the day we shoot what we like to call candid portraits. That means that we put you in the best light and coach you on what to do rather than controling every iota of detail and getting really stiff and possed looking portraits. We find that by doing this we end up with great natural looking images of you on your wedding day.
Photographing the pre-ceremony events
When
photographing the pre-ceremony events we usually arive about two hours before the ceremony and photograph all of the details such as the wedding rings, bride's shoes, bride's dress, the aplication of make up, the bride slipping into the dress, the groom and groom's men getting ready, cufflinks, watches, and any other item of significance. We find by doing this that it helps tell the story of the day better not only through the prints but through the album aswell.
Photographing the wedding ceremony
When
photographing the
wedding ceremony we shoot a photojournalistic style and try to be as un obtrusive as possible. We don't use flashes unless we absolutly have to and we shoot with long lenses so that we don't have to be right on the couple as the ceremony is going on. We prefer the ability to move around as opposed to being confined to one section of the church or ceremony space. Durring this time we are also working as a team to cover your
wedding from seperate angles and getting great results.
Photographing the wedding reception
When
photographing the wedding reception we prefer that the lighting not be too dim. A little less bright than normal would be fine any more than that and our equipment has a difficult time focusing. Unsure how dim is too dim? Use this rule: There must be enough light so that the oldest person there can read the fine print on a menu with out having to strain their eyes. We also prefer to eat at the same time that you (the bride and groom eat). This way we won't miss anything important that goes on (if we wait untill everyone is served events begin to happen while we are served and we run the risk of not being able to capture them).
Digital negatives included
We
include digital negatives in all of our packages and provide the digital negatives to the couple as soon as we finish editing them. We don't hold them hostage and we don't force you to purchase them. This way you will have coppies of the photos just incase.
